Happy New Year!!!!!!!

2012 was a blast. We had some great times at Mow Fest, Ashleyhay, Coalfields, Y-not, Tramlines and the Hastrek All Dayer to name just a few festivals. Playing with The Black Hands in August and Barkley Smith, both at The Fishpond, were personal highlights of our pub gig calender. We got a whole new album recorded and one day very soon we'll be releasing it for all your beautiful little ears.

This year looks set to be another progressive year for us. Jim's changing up his pedal board and we're shaking up the sound as a whole.

I've got a baby on the way due at the beginning of June, so we may go very quiet for a short period, but don't worry as we're putting in the hours at Rockbox in these next few months so we've got a whole new set and hopefully another new recording to put out as well this year.

Hope to see you all very soon and we promise we'll have the album ready and some gig news very, very shortly.

Recording!!!!!

After a great few months of live shows it is now time to begin the recording of our first full length album or at least the electric part of it.Much inspiration has been found from many different people and places. There are lots of different lyrical ideas that flow through the record but i don't want to go into those here i would just prefer you to discover those for yourself.

When it becomes time to record i have a constant nervous energy inside me as if I'm just on the edge, on my tip toes. This album is the reflection of the last 18 months of this band being together. The ideas have continued to evolve and the ideas have continued to be given. And it is a constant creative race to get the songs down and documented as soon as possible to preserve that first moment of when the idea is given. That moment can never been found again but merely replicated as accurately as possible with the passion it deserves.

The lyrics on this album are far more meaning full on a personal level and also have a broad subject matter.
Evolution is important to us as a band and so this album along with the 2 previous records serve as time lines in our creative process.Fear not we're not going to do a jazz album or something after this but we will move and react to the demands of the music.

Also we are no closer to narrowing down the track list so it could be a 19 track album or an 11 track album.I guess it just depends what fits together as one cohesive work. One thing i will say is all of the new material we have been playing live this year will be on the album as well as things you won't of heard.

The pool of material is nice and large so we can hopefully produce a strong album. This what we've got to
choose from ;-

-Saviour
-Beautiful lover
-She brought the light out of me
-Guilty
-I'm not the one
-Deadwood town
-Black leather
-Silent shaking
-Times of our life
-We all live someday
-Reach out
-She got caught in the rain
-Appalachian woman
-Guardian angel
-Better without
-Old religion
-Brothers and sisters
-Bring out ya dead
-Sick and lonely

The artwork is going to be done by our good friend and great artist Angela Oulsnam.Production and recording is being taken care of by our brother Aaron Dolton.

Keep an eye out for more blogs and recording updates over the next few weeks.Hopefully with some pictures.

Peace,love and fuzz

Summer's here!!!

We've had a great few weeks and made some lovely new friends along the way. Ashleyhay Festival was a great outdoor success despite the showers. Coalfields Festival was a tented dry blast and Tramlines Festival was a great way for us to banish some Sheffield demons. Many thanks to anyone who joined us on our half our musical journey's!! Your support really does keep us going.

Coming up we've got two great gigs.....

First of all we'll be playing on Saturday 29th July (This Weekend) at The Fishpond with our incredibly talented friends The Black Hands. It's £3 on the door and a chance to take in the newly refurbed Fishpond if you've not been along yet: The Black Hands & The King Bains

The week after The Fishpond gig?? Y Not Festival. Starting on Friday 3rd of August and running till Sunday 5th August. Tickets are running out fast now so if you plan on going but haven't yet grabbed one, bloody hurry up!!! We'll be playing on the Friday at 17:00 on The Allotment Stage. You'll be able to catch The Black Hands on the main stage on Sunday. Tickets are £75 plus booking fee available here: Y Not Festival Tickets.

Hope to see you in the next two weeks!!!

Ashleyhay Festival - 23rd June 2012 - £20 tickets

Next up we're returning together to play at Ashleyhay Festival for the first time since mine and Jim's days in the Durge in 2009.

It's a great festival put together by some fine local musicians and festival goers. The £20 ticket sees two days & nights of music, comedy, fluorescent orange cider, real ales, great food, muddy fields and campfires. There are options for those who can't afford full price to work for their admission!!

Back in the days of the Durge this was certainly the best gig whilst I was in the line-up and we can't wait to smash out a big old electric set with new and old tunes. The fuzz and drums are back in force!!!

Thursday 31st May - 2010 Unplugged

This week we'll be breaking out our acoustic set for the first time - 2010 Unplugged on Dale Road from 19:30 onwards - FREE ENTRY!!!

Gone are the drums and the fuzz so this time we'll admit it's going to feel a little naked for us. We'll be playing two tracks off the last couple of records which actually started off all acoustic but ended up electrified whilst we've been playing live. Now you'll get to hear them how they started life in the first place.

The rest of the set is purposely written to be acoustic, so we're looking forward to see how these tracks go down as they'll be recorded very soon for the next record.

There'll also be some great sets from Mike McMaster (legendary local bassist for Three 1/4's to Dust, Days of Descent / 250 calibres), Jason Barker (the curator of the 2010 unplugged night and lead singer for the mighty Exile) & local acoustic gem Matt McKenzie.

Don't forget there's obviously a bloody lovely selection of drinks both on tap & tucked away in the icy cold fridges to be served by Kev and the 2010 team.

PLUS.... Early doors there's an hours open mic session so get down with your banjo and crack one out....
